A taste full of memories. My parents used to serve Mango Lassi in the restaurant – it was an evergreen. Our guest loved the flavourful and refreshing drink with spicy food. Instead of buying your next Mango Lassi at the supermarket – make it at home. It is so easy to prepare and an absolute crowd pleaser.
In my childhood, we used to fill buckets with cold water for the mangos to cool. And compete – who eats the most mangos. It was either me or my younger brother who won. – Uma.
The KING of fruits is the MANGO and the king of mangos is the ALPHANSO.
One cup of mango slices has about 100 calories, almost no fat, and 25 g of carbohydrates. It is almost sodium free and has about 3 g of fiber. Mangos are high in vitamins, potassium, and folate and also add fiber to your diet.
Ingredients
3 cups of yogurt (each 125gr) - use yogurt with 3.5% fat
1.5-2 cups of water (use the yogurt cup)
3 tbsp. (according to your taste) of sugar or sweetener of your choice
1.5 cup (use the yogurt cup) mango pulp
Instructions
- Combine yogurt, water and sugar in a large bowl and use a hand blender to mix well
- Make sure your plain lassi has some bubbles and is foamy
- Add mango pulp to your lassi and use the hand blender to mix again
The consistency of the mango lassi should be creamy but liquid enough to drink easily.
Notes
Mango pulp is pureed mango, which tastes delicious with greek yoghurt and granola or with porridge and smoothies. It can be bought in any Asian store. The best is Alphanso mango pulp.
